RVRC Seniors
The new RVRC Senior Programme (SP) was introduced in the Academic Year 2023/2024. It aims to encourage senior students (Year 3 and above) who have completed the RVRC Programme to return to the College with the mindset of contributing meaningfully to the living-learning community at RVRC. The goal is for them to use their wealth of experience to take on specific leadership roles while developing themselves further.
Seniors participating in the programme play a crucial role in fostering a positive and supportive living-learning environment at the College. They inspire and motivate their peers to participate in college activities, Interest Groups (IGs), and other co-academic initiatives. Seniors lead by example, promoting inclusivity, respect, and student cooperation to strengthen the College's identity and support its mission.
In addition, Seniors serve as mentors to Year One and Year Two students in residence at the College. They provide informal guidance on academic matters and personal development, informed by their own university experience. They may offer informal insight and support to students facing academic and personal challenges by helping them navigate various university and faculty demands.
Overall, Seniors form an essential support structure for the RVRC community and contribute significantly to the College's mission of providing holistic education. Their role encompasses being a role model, advocate, organizer, communicator, and motivator. By assuming these responsibilities, they contribute to creating a positive and supportive living-learning environment at the College while empowering their fellow students to achieve their full potential.
If you are interested in contributing to the RVRC community as a Senior, please approach any RVRC Fellow or Residential Fellow about the specific areas where you would like to contribute and make a positive impact. They can guide you on the opportunities available and how you can contribute to the college's mission and values.
What are the different types of Senior Programme roles?
There are four roles in the SP that can be applied for:
- Peer Student Supporter (PSS)
- Resident Assistant (RA)
- Senior Student Leader (SSL)
- Teaching Assistant (TA)
Why should I become an RVRC Senior?

What is the selection process to become a Senior?
The College has a competitive and comprehensive selection process in place for the limited Senior Programme positions available each year. Applicants are evaluated based on the strengths of their application and interview, along with internal review and recommendations from RVRC academic and resident Fellows. The selection process follows a holistic approach to ensure that only the most suitable and motivated candidates are selected for these positions.
The dragon boating segment of the RVRC Student Leader Training 2023 brought together house heads, interest group leaders, senior student leaders, and resident assistants, marking the start of their leadership journey and growth.
