The application period for admission to RVRC typically opens from March to June every year, and applications can be submitted concurrently with the NUS admission application. The RVRC admission offer is subject to the acceptance of an offer to pursue a full –time undergraduate degree programme in NUS.
For more information on the RVRC application procedures and eligibility, please click here.
For any queries, you may also drop us an email at rvrc_admissions@nus.edu.sg.
The RVRC admission offer is subject to the applicant’s fulfilment of the NUS university requirement on English language qualifications. Applicants who do not possess the necessary English language qualifications are required to sit for the QET. For more information on QET, please click here.
Applications to the RVRC Two Year Programme are only accepted before the start of the academic year, in conjunction with NUS admission applications.
2. Curriculum
Students will receive the RVRC Programme Certificate upon completion of the RVRC Programme requirements. They will graduate with an NUS degree from their respective faculty upon completion of university and faculty specific requirements.
Yes. This will fall under the S/U* option allowed by NUS for all students admitted from AY2016/2017 onwards.
* For more information on the S/U option, please click here.
RVRC students scoring Band 2 in QET results are encouraged to first read ES1103 in Semester 1 as it is a prerequisite for RVX pillar. You will be pre-allocated to RVX pillar upon fulfilling the prerequisites.
Students must write in to the College Master explaining their reasons for withdrawal.
3. Financial Aid
For full-time undergraduate students, applications for financial aid should be made as soon as possible after your application for admission to NUS through the Office of Financial Aid portal. Once submitted online, applicants will also be automatically considered for all other NUS bursaries, where eligible. Please click here to find out more: https://rvrc.nus.edu.sg/admissions/financial-aid/.
Students are not eligible to hold both these financial aids concurrently.
4. Accommodation Plan
RVRC offers single as well as double (twin-sharing) rooms
For more information on our room rates, please click here.
Photos of RVRC accommodation options and a 360-degree virtual tour are available for viewing here.
RVRC encourages students to meet new people and embrace diversity. Students are randomly allocated to their rooms based on floor preferences and room types (subject to room availability during the application period) indicated by students via the University Hostel Management System (UHMS).
Students may indicate their preference to live in a single or double room and air-con or non air-con room. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans. For more information, refer to
https://uci.nus.edu.sg/ohs/future-residents/undergraduates/ridge-view-residential-college/
Residents can email requests for room change to askrvrc@nus.edu.sg. Room change requests are subject to availability and are typically granted in extenuating circumstances only, such as certified medical conditions. Where there are medical grounds for the request, the resident should provide supporting documents from a doctor to certify their condition.
Under the college policy, a room-to-room swap is not possible. Please note that under the NUS Housing Office rules, swapping of rooms without first seeking approval from the college is not allowed and is subject to disciplinary action from the college.
RVRC will send an email to confirmed residents with a list of ‘Terms and Conditions’. Upon agreement of these terms and conditions to RVRC, residents may proceed with room registration on University Housing Managements System (UHMS) and make a payment of $26.75 (if you have not done so earlier) with the preferred room type selection. The $200 acceptance fee at the previous hostel will only be transferred to the college if there are no outstanding charges incurred in the resident’s previous Hall/Residence.
Registration fee and acceptance fee do not apply to Non-Graduating students who are from overseas. Advance payment of hostel fees in full before arrival is required.
- In Progress – You have not completed the entire application process and/or paid the application fee of $25 & prevailing GST.
- Pending – Your application has been received and currently under review.
- Successful – Acceptance fee of $200 has been paid and a room has been reserved for you.
Yes. However, the request for vacation stay at the College is submitted as a separate application. Please approach the Office of Housing Services Management Office at RVRC Block G for more details.
Students admitted to RVRC as freshmen are normally given two years of residence with an expectation to fulfil the RVRC Programme requirements. NUS students may need to go overseas on Student Exchange Programme (SEP) through the Global Relations Office (GRO) from year 2 onwards. Hence, freshmen intake students who go overseas on the SEP during year 2 may not be able to complete the RVRC Programme. RVRC will “stop the clock” for these students to help them complete the RVRC Programme while continuing their active participation in college life. When a student comes back to the college after SEP, the clock resumes for a period equivalent to the student’s involvement in the SEP.
RVRC will “Stop the Clock” only if the student meets/fulfils the following requirements:
1. must have been admitted to RVRC as a freshman who acquired two years residence
2. must be up-to-date with RVRC programme
3. must ensure that he/she will be able to complete the pending course/courses during his/her resumed stay in RVRC;
4. must submit a completed Application-Form* to the college (along with relevant supporting documents from the home faculty/GRO as evidence of approval of SEP) as soon as the student gets confirmation on SEP.
*Submitting an application form does not mean that the clock is stopped; the decision is subject to approval by the College.
The RVRC programme allows for two years residential living at the college. However, motivated students can consider two tracks to extend their residency beyond the initial two years.
The first track is via the Resident Assistant (RA) scheme. Students shortlisted for these administrative positions work closely with the college Residential Life team and assist in administering pastoral care for residents. The college will vet applicants carefully, and shortlisted candidates undergo interviews and training before they embark on their roles. RAs do not have to pay for accommodation at RVRC during their term as RAs. As a result, these positions are extremely competitive and only exemplary students are shortlisted.
The second track is via the Senior Programme (SP). Senior students who have completed the RVRC Programme and wish to contribute meaningfully in enriching the college community are encouraged to apply for the SP. SP students do not have the administrative duties that RAs hold, but have to complete some minimal obligations as part of the RVRC community. SP students have to pay for accommodation at RVRC.
Please write in to OHS@RVRC Management Office at ohs.rvrc@nus.edu.sg for more details.
