The annual RVRC Symposium is a student-organised event that brings together students, educators, community partners and organisations within and beyond NUS. Through presentations, discussions and interactive activities, the Symposium provides a platform for participants to examine pressing social and environmental issues, learn from one another and explore opportunities to scale meaningful impact. It also fosters deeper understanding of working with communities on complex issues, extending learning beyond the classroom.

In 2027, Beyond Borders: Shaping Sustainable Futures Together marks a new chapter for the RVRC Symposium, evolving from a college platform into a regional stage for cross-institutional dialogue and collective action. Grounded in RVRC’s missions in sustainability and workplace readiness, the Symposium brings students from across ASEAN together with the RVRC and wider NUS student community, creating opportunities to exchange diverse perspectives, experiences and ideas. Engagement with community, industry and external partners further grounds these exchanges in real-world sustainability challenges and practices.

The refreshed format places exchange and participation at its heart. Alongside student project presentations, roundtable discussions invite participants to explore social and environmental challenges together, while lightning workshops offer focused, hands-on learning. Conversations with alumni bring workplace experiences and perspectives on professional growth into the programme. Together, these exchanges enable students, educators, practitioners and partners to learn across borders and disciplines, build connections, and co-create more resilient, inclusive and sustainable futures.
