A trained ornithologist and freshwater biologist, Movin brings a broad background in biodiversity impact assessments, community-based conservation, and developing regional frameworks for biodiversity credits to his teaching at Ridge View Residential College. He has conducted fieldwork across Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on the Philippines, and believes strongly in learning by doing whether that means getting students into the field, into the data, or into the thick of a real conservation problem.

Outside the classroom, he is an obsessive birdwatcher who can reliably be found wandering some patch of wilderness in pursuit of a new species, binoculars in hand and when he's not doing that, he's probably in the kitchen tinkering with his brownie recipe.
