The RVRC Symposium

RVRC Symposium1

The annual RVRC Symposium is a student-organized event featuring panel discussions, interactive booths, oral, and poster presentations, among other features to engage attendees from RVRC, NUS Residential Colleges and Faculties, youth from other IHLs, community and grassroots stakeholders of socio-environmental issues, institutional agencies and youth-led NGOs. In doing so, the symposium serves as a platform for them to examine, discuss, and learn from one another to scale impact. The RVRC Symposium also aims to foster deeper understanding about the opportunities and challenges in working with community stakeholders on issues ranging from gender-based discrimination and persons with disabilities, to climate-change impacts and marginalized youth.

The theme ‘Living and Learning for a Shared Future’, crafted by the student organising committee, highlights how RVRC’s adoption of experiential learning pedagogies and extension of the world as a classroom encourages students to tackle complex socio-environmental issues by engaging directly with community stakeholders and driving the implementation of novel ideas for meaningful impact. The symposium enables the college to scale the impact of student projects through sharing of best practices and capacity building, enabling students to strive towards building a shared future that is more sustainable and equitable for all.
