RVRC Comminions - NUS Day of Service

RVRC Comminions, the college welfare and student-led CIP interest group of Ridge View Residential College (RVRC) participated in the NUS Day of Service organised by UCI. Our student volunteers joined UCI staff and families at Bukit Batok Community Centre in packing essential food/drink items into parcels and delivered these to about 240 needy families located in walking distance of the SouthWest CDC, Bukit Batok Office. 

The activity provided opportunity for students to integrate meaningful community service with reflection to enrich their learning experience at RVRC, learn civic responsibility, and strengthen the overall community spirit locally. Two of our students, Wilson Chan and Alyson Lee, had the opportunity to interact and accompany NUS President Professor Tan Chorh Chuan in the distribution of food packs. RVRC ML Wilson said that "experiencing firsthand the neighbourly warmth as residents of the community help each other was very rewarding", while RVRC Year One Alyson found the activity especially meaningful as it "enabled me to put a smile on the residents' face".
