Welcome to Ridge View Residential College!
As you can see in our photos and videos, RVRC is a beautiful residential college within natural settings. Aligned with our settings, we offer growth opportunities to students who join us.
As a residential college in NUS, we have the typical emphasis on “living and learning”. But at RVRC in particular, we strive to integrate the two aspects by seeking to incorporate “living in learning” (i.e., aligning our learning activities to take advantage of the fact that students are living in the College) and “learning in living” (i.e., creating learning opportunities within the daily living of students).
As College Master, it is my vision for RVRC to achieve two outcomes that draw on the “Ridge View” brand:
- Elevation. Being a College on the “Ridge”, it is my hope that every RVRC student is elevated to become a “better person” as a result of their time with us. I deliberately do not want to impose a fixed definition of “better” (students will have to decide where they want to be better in) but the key point here is that there will be growth in the student over time.
- Visibility. Being a College on “View”, it is my hope that every RVRC student becomes shining examples of sustainability, with a heart for sustainability that carries into their future lives (including in their workplace). My ultimate hope is that because of these many shining examples, the College will also attain greater visibility and renown.
So I invite you to join us for this exciting journey. We welcome everyone who is interested to grow and become a better version of their current selves. Take the plunge and experience for yourself a form of kampung living that serves to build community within the Houses and as an entire College, whilst taking our slate of modules that has been carefully curated for students.
