RVRC DIV to Baba House
RVRC organised an industry visit to Baba House at 157 Neil Road on 22 February 2018 as part of its DIV series for Year One students. The objective was to understand the threat to architectural heritage in urbanised Singapore while getting the opportunity to learn more about the Peranakan culture and traditional shophouse design. The visit also included a detailed insight into how NUS has worked hard to research, conserve and restore the heritage building and learn more about the collection of curated artefacts. The visit ended with curious RVRC students exploring the internal spaces in the building while engaging with the docents about various aspects of Peranakan culture and lifestyle more than a century ago.
