On 07 August 2018, RVRC organized a screening of National Geographic's climate change documentary "Before the Flood". The film follows Leonardo DiCaprio in his role as a UN Messenger of Peace as he explores the topic of climate change and asks questions of how its catastrophic impact on our planet can be averted. The screening was followed by a conversation on climate change with Year One students, as a kickoff event for the module GEQ1917 Understanding and Critiquing Sustainability. This was the first time that a movie screening was held on the RVRC open lawn, where RVRC freshmen were joined by exchange students, seniors, and residential and academic staff, under a clear starlit sky!
