This forum uses place-based pedagogy for students to witness and observe the tensions between conservation and development in Singapore with a series of discussions and hands-on mangrove habitat enhancement activity in Singapore. After a short classroom introduction on the importance of mangroves, the class visited Pulau Ubin on 24 Sept to see for themselves how mangrove rehabilitation is carried in the Ubin Living Lab. Over there, they helped with the vegetation monitoring phase of the replanting project carried out at the arboretum. Working tirelessly in the blazing sun, the students tagged, measured and recorded information for over 77 plants. This data will be used in assessing the success of the habitat enhancement project.
