Taking a break from campus and midterms, RVRC students visited the Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle @Lor Tawas, home to one of Singapore's two huge traditional wood-fired kilns (dragon kiln). The visit to this hidden gem, tucked away near the forest, included an educational tour of the kiln followed by a relaxing morning of fun with clay. Students were offered a pottery workshop for beginners, in which they crafted individual creations using the slab technique.
One participant remarked: 'I loved the educational component of this trip, learning about the history of the place and the science of making pottery; it helped me appreciate this art form better!'
