August - October 2023

Industry visits bring RVRC students to learn about real-world developments on sustainability and workplace readiness. This semester, RVRC visited Golden Cap Farm, a startup growing gourmet mushrooms, on 28 August. Participants learnt how mushrooms contribute to Singapore's food security and witnessed the process of cultivating mushrooms in a controlled environment. They also sampled some mushrooms that are not retailed in local markets. Next, RVRC visited The Cocoon Space at Design Orchard on 8 September to discover Singapore Fashion Council's work in the Fashion Industry. They explored sustainability concerns, the green economy's impact, and career opportunities. A highlight was the tour of Design Orchard, where students learnt about local brands and observed participants in action at The Makers Studio. Lastly, the Human Resources department of National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) hosted RVRC students at their headquarters on 13 October, sharing valuable insights on career planning and learning about workers’ rights as an NTUC union member. RVRC students had the opportunity to gain deeper understanding of the various career possibilities through a Q&A session.
