Our Student Ambassadors presented an interactive and engaging showcase of RVRC’s vibrant academic, student, and residential life at the NUS Open House on 9th March 2024. 🌟 Visitors learnt about the RVRC Programme with its focus on experiential and outdoor learning, the diverse range of Student Interest Groups (IGs) offered spanning club and society, performing arts, and sports, and the unique kampung culture of our residential life. Prospective students also heard directly from our diverse and international student community on their experiences in finding a 'home away from home' at RVRC!💜
We look forward to interviewing applicants to the RVRC Programme over the next few weeks. Incoming freshmen are invited to join the RVRC Freshmen Orientation Programme 2024 "Insieme" spanning three days - 29 July till 31 July.
RVRC is a two-year residency that incoming freshmen at NUS are eligible to apply for. By making the world our classroom, RVRC offers students a distinct two-year living-and-learning experience that is different from the UTown College programme. With the RVRC focus on sustainability and experiential and outdoor learning, most RVRC courses take students out of the classroom to provide hands-on learning experiences. The RVRC Programme promotes stewardship of society and the environment through interdisciplinary education, active community engagement, and critical reflection.
RVRC students work closely with dedicated Fellows throughout their residency. Learning is conducted in small groups to enhance student engagement. Collaborative learning ensures that our students are deeply engaged and supported throughout their learning journey. Co-academic activities complement formal learning in the academic courses to make learning fun while becoming a catalyst for change. We offer diverse outdoor learning activities and industry engagement opportunities to broaden horizons, and diversify skills, enabling students in an ever-changing complex world.
The RVRC Programme is aligned with the enhanced NUS General Education Curriculum (2021); RVRC courses are mapped to four of the six General Education pillars. All courses are read for a semester and carry 4 Units each. Over two years, students are expected to read one course from each of the four pillars to fulfil the requirements of the RVRC Programme and achieve certification. The curriculum for the RVRC Programme will be worth 16 Units, and students completing the two-year RVRC Programme will receive this recognition on their official NUS transcript as well.
