The collaboration and hard work of Jukebox, Dance Revo, and Bollyview culminated in a stellar showcase in the college's annual Concert By The Ridge (CBTR) on 7th April 2024. Bringing to University Cultural Centre (UCC) the likes of Lewis Capaldi's top hits, to martial art renditions of Jay Chou's "Fearless", to rhythmic recreations of Bollywood's top hits, our students made sure this year's CBTR was indelible. RVRC's annual student concert, CBTR showcases the craft of students in our performing arts interest groups (IGs). Rehearsals run through the course of the semester before performers grace the UCC Theatre's stage.
The three-hour tapestry of enthralling recitals are guided by a different theme each year. CBTR 2024's theme was "Echoes of Time." Performances were thoughtfully crafted to represent three eras of life - the innocence of the Childhood Era, to the turbulence of the Teenage Era, and to maturity of the Adult Era. Hence, the concert opened with youthful tones of Phineas and Ferb's theme song, followed by jumpy Hiphop dances to "Gods" by NewJeans, and closed with soulful introspectiveness of Christina Perri's "Human."
Most of the preparation efforts were spearheaded by student directors, including liaising with University Cultural Centre, arranging the program flow, as well as coordinating the three IGs for dry runs. Marcus Soh, a Year 2 School of Computing student and the Jukebox representative from one of three project directors, reflects: "As a cross-interest group concert comprising band acts and dance acts on the same stage, CBTR brought along its unique series of challenges in the planning phase. The execution was no easy feat, with mishaps and communication errors affecting our schedule. However, with the team's hard work and dedication, we pulled through and executed a near-flawless concert for the audience to enjoy. "
On behalf of RVRC, we thank the students of Jukebox, Dance Revo, and Bollyview for the unforgettable show!
