In addition to this national recognition, the National University of Singapore (NUS) has conferred upon Dr. Heyzer the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters. This honorary degree, the University’s highest form of recognition, is awarded to individuals who have rendered distinguished service and achieved outstanding impact both in Singapore and internationally. Dr. Heyzer, who is also an esteemed alumna of NUS and the Rector of Ridge View Residential College, received this honour during a specially convened ceremony as part of the NUS Commencement 2025. The event was presided over by Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education and Minister-in-Charge of Social Services Integration.

This year’s Commencement bears special significance, as the University celebrates its 120th anniversary; a milestone marking over a century of excellence, innovation, and service to society.
