As we close out another academic year, we pause to celebrate what our community has built and what it is becoming.
Through the MAC3 Environment & Sustainability Fund, Ridge View Residential College has once again demonstrated that a university residential community can be a powerful force for environmental good. This year, our students and staff moved across land, water, and heritage - each activity distinct in form, yet united in purpose.
At the water's edge, they became guardians of Singapore's coastal and marine ecosystems, grappling with the fragility of intertidal life and the very real weight of ocean pollution; SDG 14 Life Below Water made tangible and personal through the Intertidal Walk and Clean series of actions. On kayaks cutting through our waterways, they turned recreation into restoration via the Kayak and Clean activities. In the forests and green corridors of this island, they deepened their understanding of biodiversity and wildlife conservation, standing alongside some of Singapore's most elusive and endangered species, embodying SDG 15 Life on Land. Through tree-planting and urban forestry efforts with RV FoRestore, they invested in the long-term ecological health of the city they call home, contributing to climate action and sustainable communities, aligned with SDGs 11 and 13. And through curated Heritage Walks that reconnected people to place and history, they reminded us that sustainability is not just an environmental project but a cultural one too.
What gives us the greatest pride this year is how all of these threads came together at the RVRC Symposium 2026. For the first time, every MAC3-funded activity was represented through student-led poster presentations shared openly with educators, institutional partners, industry leaders, and sustainability advocates from across Singapore. This was more than a showcase. It was a signal of maturity, of a community ready to influence thinking beyond its own walls.
RVRC remains grateful to the MAC3 Fund in making all of this possible. But what gives us the deepest sense of optimism as we look ahead is the quality of engagement we have witnessed; the curiosity, the commitment, and the growing sense among our students that they have both a role and a responsibility in shaping a more sustainable world.
Here's to building on this foundation.
