RVRC Year Two Programme
Students enrolled in the RVRC Year Two Programme participate in ‘Forums’ centred on the themes of Respect, Reflection and Resilience. These themes are central to the college mission and values, and a natural extension of student learning in the RVRC Year One Programme. Forums are unique to RVRC, designed to cater to students’ diverse interests, and provide a platform for our students to craft and undertake a journey of personal growth and development. Students have the flexibility to choose from several options and schedules.
Forums are non-modular (0MC) and require 12 contact hours each. Certification for the second year at RVRC is achieved by completion of a Forum from each of the three pillars. Reading Forums is a compulsory residency requirement at RVRC in Year Two*.
*Applicable to RVRC students from cohort AY20/21.
Forum on Respect
Forum on Reflection
Forum on Resilence
These forums expose students to new ideas, cultures, traditions, and worldview. Learning activities are designed to develop students’ skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to engage successfully across difference. Students are invited to participate in active small-group sessions that enhance their respect for self, the community and the natural environment.
Students participating in these forums are encouraged to engage with their peers to share and link ideas. Discussions enable students to reflect deeply, and construct meaning from their personal observations and lived experiences. A necessary component of critical thinking and problem-solving.
Students participate in collaborative activities such as workshops, local field trips and overseas expeditions that equip them with tools for building resilience. With the ability to adapt to a dynamically changing world, students are challenged to take roles to confront uncertainties and not be afraid of failure.
