Micron

On 19th October 2018, 23 RVRC students visited the Micron fabrication plant - known as Fab10X, owned by Micron Technology. Micron is a global semiconductor manufacturing company with a strong local presence - they employ more than 7,000 people in Singapore.

RVRC students received an exclusive guided tour of Micron's state of the art manufacturing facilities. Students also learnt how Micron’s Fab10X leverages an innovative design to ensure a sustainable footprint. Key highlights include the sharing of how photo-chromatic glass windows in the Micron facilities increase energy efficiency to cool the building and innovative methods in enabling Fab10X to attain 30% efficiency in water savings. For its efforts, Fab10X was rewarded with Singapore’s highest honour for sustainable design – The Green Mark Platinum Award.

Key executives from Micron; including VP Chen Kok Sing, Singapore Country Manager, took time off their busy schedule to share insights on the tech company and their corporate commitment to sustainability. Students were inspired by the deep sharing from the various key executives. Indeed the key quote for the day was to  “continue to do what is right because that is the right thing to do.”
