Student well-being is extremely important. Many students might stay away from home for the first time in their lives when joining RVRC and the prospect might be a little daunting. For others, the pressures of academic life might mount up in the course of the semester. We have several Wellness Programmes in place which help students to enjoy college life.

RVRC Combat HIIT

Combat HIIT is a fun and energetic class that requires no prior experience. Combat HIIT is designed to be a total body workout, combining calisthenics plus boxing and martial arts inspired moves with high intensity training. This empowering workout is non-contact and set to uplifting music to help you develop coordination, speed, endurance, agility, and strength. Total beginners are welcome any time. RVRC Pilates
As part of the RVRC Wellness Programme, Pilates classes are held weekly in RVRC. The Pilates classes are beginner-friendly and focus on strengthening the body and core strength. Students with varying experience levels in Pilates are all welcome to join in the weekly sessions, as the instructor leads the class to do exercises with a range of difficulty levels. Overall, it is a great way for students to destress from their academic work and strengthen both their mental and physical wellbeing through the weekly Pilates classes.

RVRC Yoga
RVRC Yoga is a Wellness Programme for anyone who likes practicing Yoga or for any beginners curious to try out Yoga. RVRC Yoga is weekly beginner-friendly sessions encompassing different forms of Yoga, led by an experienced instructor. Yoga is a great way to relieve stress and cope with academic life with its assignments, tests, and exams. Yoga also helps you to sleep better. Don’t worry if you are not flexible, whatever your body type, Yoga helps improve your strength and flexibility. To find out more about RVRC Yoga you can also join our telegram group.

Support within the Residential College

If events in your personal life become overwhelming or you have an accident or suddenly feel sick, it is important to reach out for help. As a residential college, RVRC provides students with a strong support network and there are many avenues to seek help. There are many ways students can reach out to members of the RVRC community, just choose the one that feels most comfortable:

  • Reach out to any fellow student at RVRC, just knock on your neighbour's door.
  • Contact the Resident Assistant (RA) responsible for your house.
  • Contact the Resident Fellow (RF) responsible for your house.
  • Contact one of the Fellows (AA) and ask for a meeting.
  • Reach out to the College Master.

 

Professional Support for Physical and Mental Wellbeing

Students can access professional care or assessment about a problem or an illness at the University Health Centre. In addition to the clinic services, UHC provides counselling services and programmes that are free for all full-time NUS students.
