Jukebox, the student music interest group of Ridge View Residential College (RVRC) was invited to perform at the MEWR Year of Climate Action Lunch on 28 Nov to a diverse audience of sustainability partners and stakeholders, with Minister Masagos Zulkifli in attendance.

Jukebox represented by Sulaiman Daud (Year 2 RVRC), Yeap Yong Ern Joel (Year 1 RVRC) and Lee Yi Wei, Joel (Year 2 RVRC) performed cover versions of “Gravity” by John Mayer and “Yellow” by Coldplay for the event at Orchard Hotel. The students had creatively rewritten the lyrics to both songs to adapt them to the theme of sustainability. Their lyrics were inspired by their personal learning about sustainability challenges at RVRC, where environmental stewardship is a core value.

Singapore marked 2018 as the Year of Climate Action to focus attention on climate change, to raise the level of national consciousness around the need to take individual and collective action to fight climate change for a sustainable Singapore.
