FoRestore

Student interest group RV FoRestore has clinched the Merit Award at the Student Life Awards 2021, given out by the NUS Office of Student Affairs.

RVRC FoRestore aims to develop youth to be environmental stewards by creating opportunities for them to participate in and lead forest restoration and conservation work in Singapore. The students' passion is evident through the many initiatives that have been implemented since the interest group's forming in 2019, and especially throughout the ongoing pandemic. The award recognizes the students' effort in continuing their work to engage the NUS and public community during AY20/21 in a vast array of activities such as enlisting volunteers for weeding sessions, conducting tree monitoring surveys and facilitating online talks by academic specialists on nature conservation efforts in Singapore.

Congratulations, Team FoRestore!

More about FoRestore: Started in 2019, RV Forestore is the only interest group in NUS that focuses on hands-on habitat enhancement efforts in Chestnut Nature Park. Their mission is to raise awareness, interest and appreciation of Singapore’s forests through hands-on involvement. The name ‘RV FoRestore’ is a wordplay on the words ‘Forest and ‘Restoration’. As budding foresters of Chestnut Nature Park, they advocate for restoration of ecosystem functions and forest habitat in buffer parks, like Chestnut Nature Park, for native flora and fauna in the nearby Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.
