On 20 September 2022, RV Climate Café (RVCC) invited students to participate on a journey to Kin Yan Agrotech, Singapore’s largest wheatgrass and mushroom farm. RV students went on a guided tour to learn about Singapore's local food production and Agritech scene, which will enable Singapore to meet 30% of its nutritional needs by 2030.

Kin Yan showed the participants that sustainable farming methods need not be very high-tech or complex. In fact,  Kin Yan farm is unique as it does neither use pesticides nor chemicals to grow its crops. Instead, Kin Yan Farm leverages on innovative farming techniques and proper planning to create an integrated farming system that enables growing agricultural crops, such as wheatgrass, mushrooms, and aloe vera. RVRC Students also had an opportunity to engage in a hands-on wheatgrass growing activity and tasted dishes prepared on the spot by Kin Yan using the farm’s local produce. Overall, the students had a fruitful time learning about Singapore's local farms and witnessing for themselves how a farm in Singapore engages in sustainable farming methods while ensuring economic competitiveness.
